There were straight men putting on dresses long before there was any queer culture to steal the idea from (or at least, any queer culture that the average straight man would have been remotely aware of) - and they weren't doing it to impress women, either.

And there have always been some quite feminine straight men, too (just as there are very masculine gay men). There's nothing new here, no appropriation or deception going on. It's just plain human variety.
